The Baltic Sea Academy (BSA) is a network of 18 universities and universities of applied sciences from 9 countries in the Baltic Sea region. Its main tasks are the development and realisation of dual study programmes, R&D tasks and a comprehensive knowledge and technology transfer in 3 SME-specific clusters:

a) Energy, climate and environmental protection,
b) resource-efficient construction, and
c) staff and organisational development.

The BSA itself carries out research and development tasks and supports it members in implementing dual bachelor study courses as well as cooperating with SMEs. On behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, it has set up an innovative R&D network for SMEs in the Baltic Sea region and worked on the development of an international Center of Competence “Energy” for the Ministry. The BSA is currently involved in three research and development projects in VET. As part of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, the BSA is involved in flagship projects in the priority area “Education” and “Innovation”.
