University of Latvia (UL) with around 14 000 students, 13 faculties offering 150 educational programmes and 20 research institutes is one of the largest research universities in the Baltic States with educational and research potential in humanities, social and natural sciences. UL cooperates with more than 100 academic institutions around the world and hosting around 500 exchange students annually. From 2004-2014 the UL participated in more than 300 EU and Horizon2020 /EEA/Norge/INTERREG/Erasmus funded projects. The University of Latvia quality assurance system complies with the requirements of the ENQA and currently it is using the EFQM Excellence model leading to the excellence in education and research.
Implementation of the KAforHR project at the University of Latvia is carried out by the Centre for European and Transition Studies (CETS), which since 2000 engaged in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research, teaching activities and project implementation in different EU issues, as well as external relations programmes: EU Neighbourhood Policy, EaP, EU-Canada and EU-India.
